Speaker #1 - Shin Zhang is a Solutions Architect at Confluent, specialising in building Kafka-based systems and microservices. Skilled in data streaming, system integration, and event-driven architecture. Focused on delivering robust, scalable, and industry standard systems.
Presentation #1 - Many existing systems use relational databases to manage operational data. In this talk, we'll show how to capture real-time changes from PostgreSQL using Debezium and Kafka, then stream that data into MongoDB to support flexible, low-latency querying — all without impacting existing systems. We'll also explore how Apache Flink can transform data to enable responsive, event-driven systems.
Speaker #2 - Vitaliy is a Tech Lead driven by a love of the craft and a dream to make a positive impact on the world. After a year as an active participant in the Melbourne MongoDB User Group he joined MongoDB as a Lead Application Development Consultant in July 2024. At MongoDB Vitaliy is focused on modernising legacy applications using GenAI and is enthusiastic about identifying use cases where this technology genuinely delivers results, moving beyond mere buzzwords.
Presentation #2 - Explore the magic of building lightning-fast REST APIs with Quarkus, MongoDB, and Kafka! We'll start by casually building a REST API for a MongoDB Atlas movie collection from scratch in less than 5 minutes. After benchmarking its performance we are going to slash latency by 10x with just a single line of code!
But as every developer knows, with great caching power comes great responsibility... specifically, the dreaded cache invalidation. Fear not! We'll conquer this classic challenge by harnessing the real-time power of MongoDB Atlas Stream Processing and Confluent Cloud Kafka, ensuring our super-fast API always serves the freshest data. Get ready for a fun dive into building responsive, real-time applications!
