About us

MongoDB User Groups (MUGs) are community-driven meetups where developers, architects, database professionals, and tech enthusiasts come together to share knowledge, discuss best practices, and connect with like-minded individuals 🏆

Whether you’re a beginner just getting started with your first cluster or an experienced power user scaling to petabytes, this group is for you.

Our meetups are a safe space to:

  • Learn: Hear from industry experts and local developers about how they are using MongoDB.
  • Share: Discuss interesting use cases, architectural patterns, and lessons learned.
  • Connect: Network with local tech talent, find mentors, or just hang out with fellow devs.

What to expect:

  • Tech talks and demos ⚙️
  • Interactive workshops 💡
  • Networking, food, and swag 🎁

    Session Details
    1) Build Anything: Hack your Life with MongoDB and Claude 🛠️ Seaver Choy, Director of Engineering, First Mate Tecnologies
What if you could build bespoke software for your own life as fast as you can describe it? In this session, we’ll explore how pairing Claude's reasoning with MongoDB's flexible document model creates the ultimate "life hacker's stack" for rapid prototyping.
We will move past generic "hello world" tutorials and look at how to rapidly ship custom micro-apps to solve highly specific, everyday needs. Whether it's spinning up an interactive live web bracket canvas to track match results for a weekend mixed doubles tennis tournament, or building an entirely new startup idea, you'll see how unstructured data and AI make it possible to build anything you need from day one.
Bio: Seaver Choy is a software engineer with a decade of experience and a Director of Engineering at First mate Technologies. When he isn't managing tech projects or leading the MUG Manila community, he's likely out on the tennis court, scuba diving, or tweaking his Claude Code CLI workflows.
    What you'll walk away with:

    • Zero to One Setup: How to use the Claude Code CLI to bypass boilerplate and scaffold full-stack applications in minutes.
    • AI-Driven Data Modeling: Strategies for designing flexible NoSQL schemas that easily adapt as your personal projects evolve.
    • The Power of Unstructured Data: Practical tips for letting Claude handle the heavy lifting of parsing messy inputs—from text files to custom logs—directly into MongoDB documents.
    • Live Prototyping: A live demonstration of turning a raw, everyday idea into a functional, deployable prototype.
