What weโ€™re about

We are a group of intermediate to advanced mountain bikers that enjoy riding all of our great local trails! From May thru October, we do a Thursday evening ride along with a weekend ride. November thru April rides are weather permitting with some fat bike rides that we will post if the snow falls! Our rides include the following locations: Mount Herman, Monument Preserve, Spruce Mtn./Spruce Meadows, Greenland Open Space, Lincoln Mtn., Sandstone Ranch, Falcon Trail, Ute Valley, Palmer Park, Rampart Reservoir, Red Rocks Canyon, Captain Jacks/Chutes, Pineries and Black Forest. We sometimes will head up towards Castle Rock and ride Dawson Butte, Ridgeline and Phillip Miller Park Loops as well. We will also schedule Lake Pueblo and Oil Well Flats at times. Through the year, we've also planned a few out-of-town trips as well.

This is not a beginner bike group! We typically ride 1.5-2 hours and 8-15 mile routes depending on the location. Our pace is considered "up tempo", so these are not considered casual or mellow rides. We will adjust pace based upon the attendees and numbers of riders for each ride. We ask that you pick a ride thatโ€™s within your distance range and at your skill level. We do believe in โ€œNo Drop Ridesโ€ and will wait for everyone on the ride to catch up at certain stopping points. Depending upon the location and number of riders, we may also do a self-paced ride. However, if you are way out of the rides skill level/pace we may ask you to head back to the trailhead/parking lot or complete the loop on your own.

All riders should be self-reliant and must have at the minimum: helmet, water bottle/hydration pack, tool kit and flat repair. We recommend always carrying a spare tube or patch kit, pump and a multi-tool. Mechanical breakdowns and other unexpected things can occur out there, so itโ€™s best to be prepared for anything! A catastrophic mechanical failure could mean youโ€™re walking out several miles.

Finally, by joining a ride, you acknowledge that there are many implied risks of mountain biking. Examples include, but are not limited to injury, wild animals, equipment failures or possibly death. By joining Meetup, you are agreeing to not hold any ride organizer or any member of the group liable for injuries or other unforeseen circumstances. By joining the Monument Mountain Bikers, you agree that you are riding at your own risk and that you understand and agree to the terms and conditions of the Monument Mountain Biker group waiver. By paying dues I agree I have read and agree to terms of the waiver at:

  1. Membership is $15 for the calendar year. We will send out a dues payment notice to all existing group riders prior to March 1st. At that time, you can pay the annual dues again for the new calendar year. At that time, anyone who decides to not pay their annual dues for the calendar year will be deleted from the group with an option to re-join. The annual dues help us to offset the price of the annual Meetup platform fee and the remainder goes to supplementing two annual events, a Spring Kick-Off and a fall MMB Anniversary. Both of these events are usually done at a local park. We may ask for each person that attends to bring something as well.
  2. We ask that you attend rides within your skill level. We are an advanced intermediate or higher skill level rider group. If you're a beginner, this isn't the group for you. We tend to ride trails at a moderate or faster pace. Some rides do contain significant climbing, technical terrain, rocky trails and some steep downhills which are not suited for a beginner rider. We do have some stops during the ride to re-group, but in most cases, we get moving again quickly.
