About us

Why donโ€™t you just try out one event, since you have already found this group?! ๐ŸŒฒโ˜•

Itโ€™s a friendly, no-pressure group for people who want to start their weekend with a gentle jog through one of Tokyo's beautiful forest-like parks โ€” and meet some good people along the way.

The weekly events are held in the leafier, more spacious parks of south and west Tokyo โ€” Rinshi-no-Mori. Fewer crowds, more trees, and a calmer weekend morning vibe. I may also host hiking day trip or city walk 1 - 2 times a month depending on my energy level.

What to expect at each regular event:

- A relaxed morning jog (around 20โ€“30minutes, including walking from station to the park)
- An optional coffee stop afterwards for anyone who wants to keep the morning going โ€” no pressure to stay

Solo joiners, beginners, expats, locals, and everyone in between โ€” come as you are. The hardest part is showing up; we'll handle the rest.
See you in the woods. ๐ŸŒฟ

### โ“ Frequently Asked Questions

1. Why are events limited to such a small number?
To keep things personal. I've been to big events where I couldn't even remember faces afterwards โ€” it felt empty. Keeping events to 6โ€“8 people means everyone (including me!) actually walks away with real connections.

***

2. Why charge ยฅ500 if this isn't for profit?
Just to cover Meetup's subscription fee โ€” it didn't feel fair to pay it all myself.
It works on a one-time payment model: pay ยฅ500 at your first event. Any leftover margin goes toward snacks or supplies at events.

3. When's the best time to RSVP?
Events go up 1โ€“2 weeks ahead. Ideal flow:

  • ๐ŸŸข Monโ€“Tue: RSVP early, even if you're only 50% sure
  • ๐ŸŸก Thuโ€“Fri: Check back and cancel if your plans changed
  • ๐Ÿ”ด Please avoid last-minute cancellations โ€” they take a spot from someone on the waitlist

What happens to no-shows and last minute cancellation??

It is not cool to do no-shows and last minute cancellation, moreover, this is Japan! People should behave. Also since I am running this group on volunteer basis, I am not going to serve any people who are disrespectful. Any
No-shows without notice will be immediately removed from the group and lose access to future events. I am thinking how to deal with last minute cancellation at this point.

4. What if the event is full?
Add yourself to the waitlist โ€” spots often open up as the date gets closer. If you're 100% certain and have a good reason, feel free to message me directly โ€” I'm happy to make exceptions when I can.

5. Do I need to speak Japanese/English? Do I need to be a runner?
Nope to both! ๐ŸŒฟ
Language: Come with an open mind โ€” our members are kind and friendly, so don't stress about your level. Japanese, English, or anywhere in between is all welcome.
Fitness: This isn't a fitness group. The jog is light, walk breaks are fine, and the real focus is socializing over coffee afterwards.
Beginners, returners, and "I haven't run in years" folks all fit right in. ๐Ÿ‘‹

6. I'm visiting Tokyo โ€” can I join an event?
Unfortunately not. This group is for the local Tokyo community โ€” we're focused on building lasting friendships rather than one-time meetups with travelers. If you're planning to move to Tokyo, you're more than welcome to join once you're here! ๐ŸŒฟ
