About us

What are Morning Pages?

As described in Julia Cameron’s The Artist’s Way, Morning Pages is the practice of writing three pages of stream-of-consciousness text. It is the process of moving all thoughts and ideas that are bouncing around in our heads out onto paper; designed to declutter the mind, silence the internal critic, and unblock your creative source.

While this is often a solitary practice, this group creates a dedicated, high-focus space to help you push past the "mental loops" and obsessive thinking that often stop us when we’re alone. We’re here to help each other establish a stronger connection to our own ideas and inspiration.

Why Do This in a Group?

- Shared Focus & Accountability: It’s easy to quit when you hit a wall at home. In a small group, the collective silence helps you maintain the discipline to keep the pen moving, even when you feel you have "nothing to say."

- Moving Past the Inner Critic: We serve as a supportive environment for creative recovery. Seeing others doing the work helps you bypass your own internal critic.

- Collective Energy (Zero Pressure): There is a unique power in a room full of people focusing at once. We emphasize a "no pressure" environment with optional sharing; the focus is on the process, not a performance.

Essential Rules

- Strict Privacy: Your writing is for your eyes only. Cameron strongly advises against others reading your pages (and we won't ask to). This protects you from judgment and allows for total honesty.

- Process over Product: We aren't here to write "well" or produce a masterpiece. We’re here to clear the pipes.

- No Critiques: We talk about how the writing felt, not what was written.
