- Father’s Day Weekend Ride (June 14 through 16)200 Tramway Blvd SE, Albuquerque, NM
Please join us for a ride to the Capulin Volcano and Clayton Lake State Park and Dinosaur Trackways. A geological expedition!
We will meet at the Smiths on Tramway and Central (200 Tramway Blvd SE, Albuquerque, NM) at 12:30 PM on June 14th. The briefing will be at 12:45 PM with KSU at 1:00 PM.
We will take Old Route 66 to Highway 14, we will head north stopping in Madrid for a quick break. From 14, we will take the bypass around Santa Fe and stop for gas at the Sinclair (Dinosaur Station) in Pojoaque. From Pojoaque, we will take the high road to Taos, and stop in Taos for a break and gas. After the quick stop, we will take Hwy 64 to Cimarron, make a gas stop to fill up, then go to the St. James Hotel. Please have a full tank before KSU on Saturday.
On Saturday, we will have our briefing at 8:00 with KSU at 8:15 AM go to breakfast as a group then take Hwy 64 to Raton with a few miles on I-25. To be safe, we will top off our tanks in Raton. From Raton, we will take Highway 87 to Capulin Volcano National Monument.
After viewing the Capulin Volcano, we will continue on HWY 87 to Clayton for gas and lunch. After lunch we will travel to Clayton Lake State Park and Dinosaur Trackways.
For the return to the Hotel, we will take HWY 412 to Springer for a gas stop. From Springer, we will take HWY 21 back to the St James Hotel.
We will stay a second night at the St James Hotel.On Sunday, we will have our briefing at 9:00 with KSU at 9:15 AM go to breakfast as a group, grab some gas, then take HWY 64 to Angel Fire, then take HWY 434 to Mora then travel to Las Vegas for gas and lunch2.
From Las Vegas we will take I-25 back to Albuquerque; however, for those that live east, feel free to split off on HWY 14 to return home.Important: The hotel would not take group reservations so either make your reservations online or call them, the web site and phone number are below, The manager said that they have availability on the nights we are there, but not to wait too long.
