Last section of Great Seneca Greenway Trail-Approx. 9 miles
Details
This is the final hike for completing the Great Seneca Greenway Trail and will be approximately 9.2 miles. Mostly flat, but there are a couple of hills with total elevation of 335 ft. Pace will be 2.5 to 2.7 mph. I'm doing a small lollipop to hike for a bit on the C&O Canal from the trail, then on the road to Riley's Lock and the small bridge and then getting on the trail after stopping to see the old quarry ruins seen in the picture. So, this hike includes trail and some road and gravel hiking.
Expect some mud. We are expecting some snow on Sunday.
Layer, bring snacks and water. We will have lunch at Riley's Lock.
There is a small crossing that is a little tricky due to erosion. Bring hiking poles if you use them. I plan to bring at least one pole. Bring an extra pair of socks just in case...
No dogs are allowed on this hike. The parking lot is small, so the number of hikers is limited.
