Burnt Mills West
Details
This hike loops around the Northwest Branch Anacostia River. Heading north, we will use the Rachel Carson Greenway Trail and some lesser traveled trails closer to the river. We will return on the Northwest Branch trail where we will find a place along the trail for lunch. Expect 7.5 miles and an almost flat 200 feet of elevation gain. There are several minor stream crossings, the pace will be about 2.5 mph.
Parking is off Rte 29 at the Burnt Mills West Special Park in Silver Spring. Both the East & West Parks have an address sign of 10701 Columbia Pike, Silver Spring - park on the west side.
