Liberty Dam: Top, Bottom, and Both Sides

**Due to a rainy forecast for Thursday, we are hiking on Friday this week.

This 7 mile hike starts in the McKeldin area of Patapsco and quickly heads toward Liberty Dam. We will make loops in both Baltimore County and Carroll County in order to view the dam from lots of different angles. Expect about 900 feet of elevation gain and a moving pace of about 2.5 mph. We’ll have a snack break midway through, and an optional brown bag lunch at the end.

Please note that this is not an easy hike. There are some rocky and leaf covered sections, and two notably steep climbs up to the dam. We will be navigating over and under downed trees on some lesser used trails. Hiking poles are recommended. Please don’t sign up unless you have recently completed a hike of at least this level of difficulty.

Be aware that by registering for this hike you are making a commitment to attend. If you need to drop out, try to do so well enough in advance (at least 24 hours) in order to give someone on the waitlist enough time to join us. Serial no-shows and late drop outs are being noted. I reserve the right to selectively admit people from the waitlist.
