Greetings, you are invited to join like-minded individuals who are committed to the improvement of their physical, mental and spiritual health and are interested in the exploration and practice of the art of tai chi and qigong. Note: This group is open to the public, you do not need to join Meetup to attend. Just contact me prior to showing up to confirm meeting. Jason@jasonchanproductions.com
Tai chi is a complete, wellness system originating from Chinese martial arts (Wushu, Kungfu). The gentle flowing movements are integrated with philosophical teachings from Taoism (Daoist) and Buddhism's "Mindfullness" as a means of spiritual cultivation. Although this group’s primarily focus is on tai chi we will also explore various Chinese arts such as massage (Tui na), acupressure and lion dance and drumming.
Mountain View Tai chi and qigong (chi-gong) combines the popular Yang and Chen tai chi styles as well as the “chi” (qi) cultivating practice of qigong. The “chi” is the life force energy or can be thought of as bio electric aspect of ourselves.
A unique aspect of this class is that I bring my twenty five years experience as a wellness instructor, soft tissue therapist and Certified Personal Trainer to help guide my students towards improving their health. I consider the teaching of Tai chi in itself an art and offer many innovative teaching techniques to develop a feel and understanding of the science behind the art.
There are countless physical benefits to practicing tai chi. I have personally experienced the following: Increase energy and stamina, improved metabolism and weight reduction, stronger healthier joints, reduced stiffness and pain in low back, neck, shoulders, reduction of stress effects, and a fuller sense of self in relationship to nature and community.
