The Leeds and Liverpool canal is 127 miles, add in a mile or 2 to train stations at either end, it has some superb scenery along the route. Its not a path that you can cycle fast on, there are some quite bumpy parts, its at a slower speed and can be a long day on the bike. Would recommend a mountain bike or a gravel bike, I’ve done it several times on a mountain bike. It is best doing this one in good weather, hopefully we will get a sunny weekend 😊
Plan is to start from Stanley Dock Liverpool around 8.30ish, cycle along the canal to Burnley, there is a Travelodge just off the canal (Baracks Road Burnley BB11 4SB).
The next morning we continue on into Leeds. There are plenty of places to get a breakfast/lunch along the way from Burnley.
In Leeds you can either get the train home or stay over and get train back the next morning.
It would be advisable to make accommodation bookings in good time.
It may also be possible to find alternative accommodation nearby.
For some it might require overnight accommodation near the start of the ride to get there in time for the first morning.
