This hike is for experienced hikers only and will be very challenging for those who hike infrequently. Please be prepared to keep a steady group pace of at least 2 miles per hour so we can stay together and keep the hike running smoothly.

Logistics and Meeting Point

  • Location: Washburn Trail Parking (3011 NY-9D, Cold Spring, NY 10516)
  • Public Transit: Participants taking the train should meet at the Harlem 125th Street Station before 7:00 AM to catch the 7:07 AM train to Cold Spring.

Route
This route is a challenging and scenic endurance hike that hits three major peaks in the Hudson Highlands: Bull Hill (Mt. Taurus), Breakneck Ridge, and Sugarloaf Mountain. Starting and ending in the charming town of Cold Spring, this loop offers a mix of steep rock scrambles, lush forested paths, and some of the best panoramic views of the Hudson River and Storm King Mountain.
