OSCAR NOMINATED LIVE ACTION SHORTS - Bernardsville Cinema-Discuss @ The Station

It's time to check out some Oscar Nominated Shorts! While we have chosen the Live Action Shorts for this event, please note that the Bernardsville Cinema is also showing the Animated Shorts and the Documentary Shorts throughout this week and the weekend. Folks may want to check that out on their own or in smaller groups. (I will also be sharing where these films can be streamed in a separate post.)

Here's the lineup:
Live Action Short Film Nominees (2026)

• "Butcher's Stain" (Israel): A Palestinian butcher at an Israeli supermarket attempts to prove his innocence after being accused of vandalism.
• "A Friend of Dorothy" (UK): A lonely widow and a teenager form an unexpected friendship.
• "Jane Austen's Period Drama" (USA): A comedy about a woman whose marriage proposal in 1813 is interrupted by the arrival of her period.
• "The Singers" (USA): Based on a 19th-century story, this film centers on a group of people connecting in a pub.
• "Two People Exchanging Saliva" (France/US): A dystopian drama exploring a developing relationship.

Runtime: 120 minutes

SHOWTIME: We will see the 2:15 showing at the Bernardsville Cinema (5 Mine Brook Rd, Bernardsville, NJ). Street parking is free and pretty available but you can also park at the train station right across the street.

DISCUSSION: We'll walk over to The Station (45 Mine Brook Road) a pub that is reasonably priced and offers something for everyone!

PLEASE NOTE: We purchase our tickets on our own and meet up in the lobby after the show to head over to the discussion. Anyone who wants to see the shorts on their own can meet us for the discussion only. Just put that in the comments. Thanks!

It's unfair for the group to wait around after the film for people who do not show up. And it fouls up reservations made at the restaurants we visit. NO SHOWS WILL NOW BE WARNED ONCE AND REMOVED FROM THE GROUP AFTER THE SECOND OCCURRENCE. We keep a list of no-shows - please change your RSVP prior to the start of the event so you don't end up on it! Thank you for your consideration.
