You Say You Want a Discussion Lunch About Revolution
Details
To end the month that began with the celebration of our own revolution, we’ll be looking at cinematic depictions of revolutions throughout the world and throughout history. As opposed to a traditional war film, our film focuses on uprisings and struggles to overthrow a ruling government. We will stick to real world historic events and avoid the most abundant war movie topics like the American Civil War, WWI & II, and Vietnam. See you in July for the following Revolutionary Films:
- Battleship Potemkin – 1925 (Sergei Eisenstein) - Russian Revolution
- Drums Along the Mohawk – 1939 (John Ford) – American Revolution
- Spartacus – 1960 (Stanley Kubrick) – Roman Gladiator War
- The Battle of Algiers – 1966 (Gillo Pontecorvo) - Algerian War
