Film Discussion Lunch: The Films Of 2025 (NEW LOCATION & TIME!)
Details
(UPDATE: due to water damage at the Warehouse, the venue has been moved to the nearby Lebanese restaurant Suda's on 1524 W. Fullerton across from Facets Film Forum. They open at 4, so the Meetup start time has been adjusted accordingly. Apologies for the last-minute switch).
We take a look back at the year 2025 in film. It was a year that had several surprises: an unnerving tale of a ping-pong champion? A foreign film whose director had an arrest warrant issued while it was in release? A vampire story set in bootlegger times that becomes a critical and commercial juggernaut? Several auteurs trying their hands at more 'conventional' movies ("The Running Man" / "Roofman" / "Caught Stealing")? And an action movie by Paul Thomas Anderson that despite being set in the 1990s manages to be so current to events today?
We'll talk about those (and many more) during our recap of the past year. What were your favorite films and film moments from 2025? (Jafar Panahi's Chicago attendance at the Music Box for his "It Was Just An Accident" was a high point for me.)
