Come join us on this local classic out-and-back trail to the historic Caudill Cabin, the remnant of the Basin Cove community destroyed by the 1916 flooding. The first 1.7 miles to the primitive campground is scenic and easy. We then follow the rugged trail ascending 3.5 or so miles to the cabin site for a lunch break before heading back. Expect 10+ miles round trip.

On the rugged part, there are over 20 creek crossings (each way!); expect most or all to be "wet foot." Your feet will get wet, so be ready for it.

A hiking stick or trekking pole(s) are strongly recommended. Bring enough water and food, proper apparel, footwear, rain gear, sunscreen/bug repellant, and other gear for the day hike. Local history and foraging to be discussed.
