Forest to Sea Loop via Pantoll

The hike climbs through the Redwood Forests along the lovely Webb Creek to Pantoll. We then take a relaxed pace down Matt Davis through varied terrain (grasslands, meadows) with water views to Stinson Beach. We climb out of Stinson on Dipsea through the coastal chaparral back to the Whitegate parking lot.
About 8 miles / 1700 feet elevation gain (rated difficult)
Trails: Dipsea, Steep Ravine, Matt Davis, back to Dipsea
Pace: Moderate but steady (average 2+ mph)
Brief breaks: At trail junctions for adjusting layers, water, catching up; rest stops at Pantoll and Stinson Beach with time for snacks
Recommended: snack, layers, some relatively recent hiking / fitness experiences

WATER: Bring at least two bottles of water. Most hikes do not pass by public drinking water sources.
STURDY BOOTS / POLES: Trails are uneven, rocky and can be very steep in places. Sandals, sneakers and running shoes are not recommended.
PROTECTION: Ticks, mosquitoes, horse flies and yellow jackets are present, but not abundant. Sunscreen is needed for some hikes.

PARKING: Whitegate Parking Lot, option to take the bus or park at Stinson Beach and hike to Whitegate (and finish at Stinson) via Dipsea
