The award-winning Blair Big Band makes its season debut with a special performance featuring superstar drummer Ignacio Berroa, Tuesday, September 23, 2025, 7:30 p.m., in Ingram Hall. Best known for his work with legendary trumpeter Dizzy Gillespie, Berroa is regarded as one of the greatest drummers of our time and a leading innovator of Afro-Cuban and Afro-American jazz styles.

Tickets: $12.50, I have already paid for this event for ten( 10 ) members so that we can all sit in the same row. The members can pay me their share on the day of the show.

Directed by Ryan Middagh, the Blair Big Band performs a diverse repertoire that includes classic big band standards, modern jazz compositions, and original works by its members. One of the premier collegiate jazz ensembles in the country, the ensemble has been honored with 14 DownBeat Magazine Student Music Awards and was a top-four finalist at the prestigious 2023 Jack Rudin Jazz Championship in New York.

Recognized as one of the greatest drummers of our time, Ignacio Berroa is a leading innovator in the blending of Afro-Cuban and American jazz styles. His artful drumming has supported a wide spectrum of the very top names in jazz, including Dizzy Gillespie, McCoy Tyner, Chick Corea, Wynton Marsalis, Freddie Hubbard, Charlie Haden, and Gonzalo Rubalcaba.
Berroa has led his own Grammy-nominated group for over 20 years and has performed at nearly all the major jazz festivals, concert halls, and clubs internationally. He has consistently been on the cutting edge of the jazz and Latin jazz scene for nearly 40 years and has been an integral influence on its shape and development.
