About R
R is the statistical programming language that data experts around the world rely on everyday. R was built as an open source implementation of S programming language by Ross Ihaka and Robert Gentleman. R is primarily written in C, Fortran and R. If you have benefitted from R, please consider donating to the R Foundation. R is extended via packages, many of which are annotated in the CRAN Task Views.
