What we’re about

We're a group of international people who enjoy exploring the Alps and beyond using the extensive network of groomed cross-country ski trails. Tours are organised regularly throughout winter and early spring. The emphasis is on fun, exercise and socialising rather than competition. We predominantly ski the classic technique.

Some of our tours are suitable for beginners while others are longer and require previous experience in cross-country skiing. Please read the tour description for details. Competent downhill skiers generally pick up the technique pretty quickly and are also welcome on our medium-difficulty tours.

Typical distances are 12 to 25 kilometres with a lunch break in a restaurant en-route. Trails are graded blue (easy), red, or black (difficult) depending on the technical difficulty. If you're a beginner or looking to improve your technique, please watch our technique video on YouTube: https://youtu.be/mjbuwmUzUhQ

Ski hire: Some of our tours require your own equipment, but on the majority ski hire is available. Expect to pay around €15 to €20 for the full set (skis, poles, boots) for one day.

What to wear: Breathable layers. A pair of thick, quick-drying cycling or running trousers along with a windproof jacket is ideal. Ski trousers and jackets intended for downhill skiing will be too hot. Gloves and ear-warmers are essential, but not too thick. No jeans or other cotton clothing.

What to bring: If it's sunny then sunglasses and sun cream are essential. Some water is always good, and you’ll need ID for the ski hire. Make sure you have plenty of CASH for ski hire, restaurant, train tickets and (sometimes) trail fees.

Who were are: We've been organising cross-country skiing tours on Toytown since 2010. We start as early in November/December as possible and carry on until the last dregs of snow melt away in mid-April! We also organise weekends away in the Alps and a week's holiday in Scandinavia. See this video from our Finland trip for an idea of what we do!
