Growing Enoki Mushrooms (Flammulina) Part 3 - Newbies Welcome ! (Note new day!)

Details
Note: This class had to be rescheduled to December 21st, due to a room scheduling conflict. Life happens. If this is a major problem, just shoot me an email at Nyles314@hotmail.com. Sorry for the inconvenience.
In this vibrant meeting we will be continuing our adventures in growing mushrooms, and in this case, the genuinely medicinal, and highly sought after edible, the Enoki Mushroom (Flammulina velutipes, now changed to Flammulina filiformis ).
If you are new, have no idea how to grow mushrooms at all, you are still welcome. You will not be overwhelmed (promise!), and all supplies needed are provided. This is the third class in a series of three; the end goal being to actually grow Enoki mushrooms at home. This class is the final step to what we've been leading up to - producing mushrooms at home!
Don’t forget to bring your inoculated grain spawn from last class, if you were there. If you weren’t, no worries, we have plenty to share.
If you missed the two classes, no worries. It's easy to catch up and we'll begin with a review of everything we've done so far.
In this three class series, we have been learning the techniques for culturing, and actually growing, the Enoki mushroom, a mushroom that several peer reviewed journal articles suggest may be an effective and true immunological boost. While I would never prematurely make a blanket claim that any mushroom can treat a specific illness, there is enough peer reviewed research to show that this specific mushroom can indeed have a profound effect on the body. This is a wood loving mushroom, and many wood lovers seem to have documented medicinal value.
Though we'll be working with the Enoki Mushroom, all the techniques we will be learning apply to pretty much any mushroom that can be cultivated and grown at home, even commercially.
In this, our third class, we will learn how to make the mushroom growing substrate using untreated wood pellets, and how to inoculate the wood pellets with mushroom mycelium we have made from grain spawn. This upcoming step is the step we actually begin to grow out actual mushrooms.
Feel free to bring your jars of grain spawn from the previous class. We will have backup spawn for everyone in the event that may not have any, or have Mason jars that aren't fully grown out or have some contamination (a rare event).
Once your mushrooms grow out, you can use them in cooking, dry and grind them into powder to eat, or you make tinctures.
We will also review how to keep work areas fairly sterile and on the cheap. There's really no need for HEPA filters or still air boxes.
We will review why these methods are important, and the basics of growing mushrooms.
Again, if you are a total novice and have no idea what I'm talking about, or what grain spawn is, you're still in the right place and welcome to show up to this class. Trust me, you'll do fine, and everything needed will be supplied!
Because of the supplies you'll be provided with, and because a lot of preparation is required by those teaching, we will be charging $35 per person.
As we say in New York, it's a screaming deal.
Hope to see you all this Thursday the 21st!
