The forecast says it's going to be sunny next Saturday so let's hike up to Mt Tam's East Peak. We'll start from the parking lot across from Mt Home Inn. Go up Hogback Road to Hoo Koo E Koo, Vic Haunt, Temelpa, Verna Dunshee to the Mt Tamalpais Vistor's Center parking lot just below East Peak. That will be about 3 miles and 1400 ft up so far. There we will take a short bathroom break and opportunity to fill up our water bottles and then continue up the Plank walk trail another 1/2 mile and 200 ft up to the East Peak. We will take a break there to have a snack, and enjoy the views. Then we head back down through the Mt Tam Visitor Lot again and onto East Ridgecrest to Old Railroad Grade to West Point Inn, down to Nora Trail, Matt Davis and back onto Hogback where we started and back to the Mt Home Inn parking lot.

There are some steep and rocky sections on this hike. Please bring poles if you use them, layers, snacks, water, sunscreen, etc. There is a lot of sun exposure on this hike.

Please come prepared to hike up! We hike at a casual to moderate but STEADY pace without stopping much except for described breaks within the event plan details.

I have never taken this route before, so please come prepared for an exploratory hike. I may need to check directions along the way. Below are the two hikes we are combining and it would be helpful if others download the maps too as a back up. Thank you!

Free parking across the street from Mt Home Inn. There is an outhouse at the lot. We will meet at the parking lot across the street from the Mt Home Inn. If the lot is full, please look for parking either on the side of the road, or If you drive just past the Mt Home Inn, look to the right for the big sign that says "Mt Tamalpais Watershed. Parking", and follow that little road to the right where there is another small lot.
Please arrive early to allow time to park (knowing you may need to park up the hill and walk back to the lot), and use the restroom, etc.

Please be ready to go with "boots on" by 8:30 am!
