The recent explosion of mobile devices, combined with parallel processing on commodity machines and rich HTML5/Javascript data visualization frameworks, has created a perfect storm of big data. Winning in this space requires not only the raw horsepower of big data computing, but also the insights brought by data science and dissemination of "data-gleaned value" through rich visualizations and agile applications.
As a NoSQL database-as-as-service vendor with more than 13,000 users, we have a unique perspective on successful emergent phenomena in this space. We will discuss the five leading patterns emerging from the best big data applications. We'll also examine early technological choices and design decisions, and will conclude with basic examples of the Cloudant API.
