Washington, DC Area Unity Users Group (WAUUG)

The Washington Area Unity Users Group (WAUUG) is back.

We’re restarting the group with a casual meetup for Unity developers, game developers, artists, students, hobbyists, industry professionals, and anyone interested in building interactive experiences.

The goal is simple: get people in the DC, Maryland, and Northern Virginia game-development community back in the same room, meet each other, share what we’re working on, and start rebuilding a consistent local Unity community.

For this first meetup, expect a relaxed evening focused on introductions, networking, conversation, and talking about what everyone would like to see from WAUUG going forward. Future events may include developer talks, project demos, game-development workshops, game jams, technical deep dives, career discussions, competitions, and presentations from members of the local and broader Unity ecosystem.

You do not need to be a Unity expert. Beginners, students, experienced developers, indie creators, professional teams, and people who are simply curious about game development are all welcome.

If you have something you're building, bring it. If you have something you want to learn, bring questions. If you've been looking for other developers and creators in the area, come meet them.

The Washington Area Unity Users Group (WAUUG) is building momentum.
After restarting the group in September, we’re getting together again for another casual meetup for Unity developers, game developers, artists, students, hobbyists, industry professionals, and anyone interested in building interactive experiences.
October is about continuing the conversations we started, welcoming new people into the group, and giving everyone more opportunities to connect with developers and creators across DC, Maryland, and Northern Virginia.
Expect a relaxed evening of networking, project conversations, technical discussion, and community building. If you attended the September restart, come back and keep the momentum going. If you missed it, this is an easy place to jump in — there is no prerequisite and no expectation that you already know anyone.
We’d especially love to hear about what people are building. Bring a game, prototype, tool, experiment, idea, portfolio piece, or even a problem you’re currently trying to solve. You don’t need a polished demo. Sometimes the most useful conversations start with something unfinished.
You do not need to be a Unity expert. Beginners, students, experienced developers, indie creators, professional teams, artists, designers, and people who are simply curious about game development are all welcome.
As WAUUG grows, we’ll continue shaping future events around the community — including talks, demos, workshops, game jams, technical deep dives, career discussions, competitions, and other opportunities to learn and build together.

The Washington Area Unity Users Group (WAUUG) is becoming a regular gathering point for the local game-development community.
With the group back in motion, November is about going a little deeper — more conversations about the technology we use, the projects we’re building, the problems we’re solving, and the people we can learn from along the way.
This meetup is open to Unity developers, game developers, artists, designers, students, hobbyists, industry professionals, and anyone interested in interactive development across DC, Maryland, and Northern Virginia.
Expect a casual evening where people can talk tech, exchange ideas, show projects, ask questions, compare workflows, discuss tools, and make connections with others working in the same space.
If you’re building something, bring it. A finished game is great, but so is a rough prototype, an experimental mechanic, a technical problem, a piece of art, a tool, or an idea you haven’t figured out how to build yet.
You do not need to be a Unity expert. WAUUG is intended to be useful whether you’re opening Unity for the first time, studying game development, working on an indie project, or building interactive software professionally.
We’re also continuing to develop what WAUUG can become in 2027, including community talks, member demos, workshops, game jams, technical sessions, career discussions, collaborations, and events with people from the broader Unity and game-development ecosystem.

The Washington Area Unity Users Group (WAUUG) is wrapping up the year together.
After restarting the group this fall, December is a chance to celebrate the people who showed up, the projects everyone has been working on, the connections we’ve made, and the community we’re beginning to rebuild across DC, Maryland, and Northern Virginia.
This will be a relaxed end-of-year meetup for Unity developers, game developers, artists, designers, students, hobbyists, industry professionals, and anyone interested in creating games or interactive experiences.
Come hang out, talk games, share what you’ve been building, meet other developers, and reflect on what you worked on in 2026. Finished something this year? Bring it. Still working on something? Bring that too. Have nothing to show yet but want to meet people and get inspired for next year? You’re just as welcome.
This meetup is also an opportunity to talk about where WAUUG goes next. We want 2027 to include more opportunities for community members to present projects, teach what they know, participate in workshops and game jams, collaborate with others, and connect with developers throughout the region.
You do not need to be a Unity expert. Beginners, students, indie developers, professional developers, artists, designers, and curious newcomers are all welcome.
