We will be back at our cars and a restroom break after 7 miles and then do another 3 miles out and back to visit the Bale Mill. If some people only want 7 miles that is OK too, but I do highly recommend the last 3 miles of the hike.

You will be hiking through heavily forested trails, along streams and even through some redwoods. It's a heavily forested loop that is so green and lush all year! However, there was a fire in the area several years ago, so we get to see how it has recovered in the affected areas.

This trail is appx. 7 miles with an elevation gain of 1500 feet. We will do the spur trail up to Traverso Homestead so that we can say that we hiked the ENTIRE park!!! We will also see the Girst mill on the hike as well along with a mountain summit. I did this hike with the Sonoma County wanderers a few months back and really enjoyed it. For this hike The grade is moderate and gentle, and in the shade most of the time.

There is a $8 state park fee to visit this park. Or you can use your State Park Pass.

Directions: Bothe-Napa Valley State Park is located along Highway 29 between Calistoga and St. Helena. The park entrance is 3.5 miles south of Calistoga or 4.5 mile from St. Helena if you are coming north on Highway 29. Enter Park and trail 0.4 miles to the posted Redwood Creek Trailhead and parking on the right. Meet in the parking lot

Petaluma carpool Park and ride off of Lakeville Road at 7 am. if you want carpool, please text me at 707-584-1129 or if you have questions about the hike.
