What we’re about
Through teachings, practice, and community, the Nashville POC Sangha (pronounced “song-ga” meaning spiritual community in Sanskrit) is a gathering where people of color are invited to meditate together and hold space for whatever is coming up in our practice and in our lives.
Based on the teachings of the Buddha and other wisdom traditions, our mission is to nurture, support, and share liberation. We do this by creating a safe space for meeting our own minds, building a practice of coming home to the present moment, cultivating compassion for ourselves and others, and finding joy through liberation from suffering. We offer guided meditations, dharma talks, facilitated discussions, retreats and other types of community gatherings.
Open to self-identified people of color of all religious traditions. Come as you are.

Practicing Joy: A BIPOC Meditation Retreat
Wild Heart Meditation Center, 3123 Gallatin Pike, Nashville, TN, USIn this half day retreat, we’ll meditate and be in community together. The theme will be on joy - how to practice and cultivate it, even in the midst of difficulty. The day will be facilitated by Nashville POC Sangha founder Jennifer Wang and will include guided and silent meditation, a talk given by Jennifer, and group discussion and Q&A.
The retreat is meant to be experienced in its entirety so please arrive a few minutes early to get settled into your seat so that we can start promptly at 10am. To experience the retreat fully, we encourage you to plan ahead so that as much as possible, you can disconnect from your devices and dedicate yourself to your practice for the duration of the retreat.
This retreat is free of charge, with a suggested $25 donation if that is workable for your budget. Facilitators are not compensated, funds go directly toward the sustainability of Nashville POC Sangha and a donation to Wild Heart Meditation Center for hosting us. Tea and snacks will be provided.
Open to all self-identified people of color. Come as you are, no meditation experience needed!
