What we’re about

Welcome to the "Nature Navigators - Hikers of Vancouver Island"!

We are a group of nature enthusiasts with a common passion for hiking and exploring the incredible trails across Vancouver Island, specifically around Victoria. We intend to build a community where members can discover the region's natural beauty together, share stories, experiences, and create lasting memories.

Membership requirements:
Our group is open to everyone over 18 years of age with all levels of hiking experience; however, it has a cap for the number of members in it. From beginners who are just starting their hiking journey to seasoned hikers looking for companionship on the trails - everyone is welcome. We require all members to respect the trails, nature and other hikers and abide by the "Leave No Trace" principles.

Fees or Dues:
Participation in hikes is free. However, occasional costs may be associated with certain events, such as park entrance fees, transportation or special guided tours (in the future). We will always disclose this information in advance during the event announcement.

Affiliation:
Our group is an independent community and is not associated with any business, organization, or third party.

Activities:
Our activities mainly revolve around hiking and trail walks in and around Victoria, with occasional camping or picnic events in the future. We also aim to have some educational sessions on trail safety, navigation, wildlife spotting, etc. Please note that we are not a competitive group; our hikes are for enjoying and appreciating nature.

Safety and Guidelines:
We prioritize safety above everything else. All hikers must come prepared according to the trail's difficulty level. This includes appropriate footwear, water, snacks, and other essential gear. All members are responsible for their safety during hikes.

We strictly adhere to Meetup's guidelines and do not support or encourage prohibited practices or themes. We aim to create a safe, welcoming, and respectful community for all our members. Any actions or behaviour that violates these guidelines or threatens the safety or well-being of our members will not be tolerated.

Join us as we navigate through forests, scale mountains, cross streams, and watch sunsets over the Pacific, all while creating a supportive community of hikers!

We can't wait to hit the trails with you!
