NDev 49: "Why The Web" with Jack Harrhy

Details
Hi folks!
We're back for 2023 and excited to have you all! Our speaker is will be the insanely knowledgeable and supportive local legend Jack Harrhy, who will be giving a talk titled: "Why The Web". As always, we will have food and drink for all, and if anyone has any special requests, please let us know via Slack!
The event will be taking place in the Mysa offices at 34 Harvey Road, St. John's.
Looking forward to having you folks there!
Jack's Talk Abstract is below:
-----
The web moves quickly, and so do the tools and methodologies used to create websites.
The days of simply writing a few HTML files and chucking them to a web server over FTP are gone for most, there is now a slew of tools required to install before even getting started, to duck-tape together to 'build' a web page.
How did we get here? Why do we do so much on the client these days without using the server? Why am I shipping megabytes of JavaScript before the page can even show anything but white? Why does my app have so many loading spinners? I can't help but write so much glue between my backend and frontend!
Are there better ways to build websites?
Jack thinks there is, and during this talk of discussing the somewhat mess the industry is in, he will present some recently released bleeding edge tools and technologies that take the edge off of building simple / complex websites / web-apps
(Note: this is a talk similar to the "What the Web" talk given previously at the Google Developer Group St. John's event, but more geared to a intermediate / senior audience)
