NDev 51: Fifteen Years of Bugs, Lessons in Software Quality

Details

Hello folks!

Long time, no see! We're back this month with a great talk from the one and only Ryan Green! Currently, Ryan is a principal software engineer at Vendia with interests in scalable system design, cloud architectures, and software quality. Previously, Ryan has held positions at AWS and Verafin and holds a Computer Engineering degree from MUN.

I'm very happy to say that the great folks at Mysa have once again been kind enough to let us use their space again. So many thanks go out to our friends at Mysa 🙏.

As always, we'll have some pizza and drinks available (sponsored by Spellbook) so that you can have something to snack on during the talk. As always, after the talk there'll be a little bit of time to network and chat.

Many thanks to Ryan for putting together the talk, Mysa for letting us use their space, Spellbook for the food & drink, and to all of you for coming! I hope to see you there!

Mike

Title: Fifteen Years of Bugs, Lessons in Software Quality

Abstract:
This year will be my 16th year working as a professional software engineer. In that time I've broken a lot of stuff and learned some hard lessons.

We'll try to find some patterns in these stories of software disasters and recoveries and maybe learn something about delivering quality software.

(This is also secretly a talk about the Rust programming language)
