•HybridTaking the Leap and Landing Gracefully in Industry (Brandi Pessman)
Center for Brain, Biology & Behavior; University of Nebraska-Lincoln, 1100 T Street, Lincoln, NE, USAcademia and industry have different rhythms and expectations. Having transitioned from academia into an industry data science role just six months ago, I’ll share lessons learned about reframing research skills, emphasizing R programming and machine learning, and developing the communication habits needed to succeed in a business setting. This talk will cover practical insights on job searching, interviewing, and thriving in collaborative, results-driven environments — relevant for anyone navigating a career transition into data science, or industry more broadly.
This meeting will be held in the Center for Brain, Biology & Behavior (CB3) on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln city campus. The entrance to CB3 is in the southeast corner of Memorial Stadium between gates 22 and 23. Enter the doors with the NCB3 sign above it, and proceed to the reception where signs will guide you to the meeting room. Public parking is available in the Stadium Drive Parking Garage.
In person guests can join us at 3:45pm for snacks. The talk will start at 4:00pm.3 attendees
