"What Is the Unconscious?" Part 1: Freud and Nietzsche
Details
Hey all,
Negative Space—a poorly defined group—persists nonetheless as a group that has something to do with philosophy, psychoanalysis, literature, and dare I say theology—and even more broadly with conversation, language, and the sharing of philosophical concerns.
At this event we’re kicking off a new seminar, “What is the Unconscious?” This is our fourth seminar—and what that means is that this is our fourth series of discussions that orbit around a shared theme or concept. Over the next few months we’ll have a variety of presentations from various contributors that share in orbit around the question: “What is the Unconscious?”
Nick and I (Sawyer) are going to kick things off with a discussion around Freud and Nietzsche. We'll have more contributions from other people involved on the calendar soon. If you're thinking about attending this series, I'd highly recommend making it to as many as you can. We will still have our normal events running as well.
I’ll start off talking a bit about Freud’s Unconscious before Nick discusses Nietzsche's Unconscious and we’ll go from there.
See y’all at Hogshead!
Best,
Sawyer
