What if you didn't have to be anyone in particular to belong somewhere?

Hitodori Social Club is a casual gathering for anyone and everyone. Whether you're a local, stationed in Okinawa, traveling through, or simply stumbled upon this meetup, you're welcome here.

No pressure. No expectations. No particular language required. Just bring yourself, as you are.

We'll gather at Neighborly Coffee, our little coffee shop inside Hitodori Community House, a cozy, vintage brick house with a homey feel. We won't be serving coffee as part of the meetup, but you're welcome to enjoy the space, settle in, and make yourself comfortable.

A little about why we started this...
I've always wanted to create this kind of gathering because, honestly, I've found it difficult to simply show up sometimes.

We live in a world that moves fast. There's always something to keep up with, another expectation to meet, another version of ourselves we're expected to be. We wear different hats for different parts of our lives, and somewhere along the way, we can forget how to take them off. Sometimes, we don't even realize we're wearing them until we're exhausted.

Eventually, even showing up somewhere can feel like another thing on the to-do list.

So I wanted to create a space that feels a little different.

A place where you don't have to show up as your best self, your most interesting self, or even a particularly social self.

A place not to "show up," but to "come back to."

Come as you are. Stay as long as you like. Talk, listen, laugh, sit quietly, or simply share the same space with others.

No need to impress. No need to explain. No need to be anything other than human.

Maybe you'll meet a new friend. Maybe you'll have an unexpected conversation. Maybe you'll just enjoy being somewhere without having to be somewhere else.

Whatever it looks like, that's enough.

ありのままで、ふらっと集まろう。

Hitodori Social Clubは、誰でも気軽に参加できる、小さな交流の場です。

沖縄で暮らしている人、仕事や任務で沖縄に滞在している人、旅の途中でふらっと立ち寄った人。どんな人でも大歓迎です。

特別な目的も、参加するための条件もありません。
気負わず、飾らず、ありのままの自分で遊びに来てください。

会場は、私たちが運営するコーヒーショップ Neighborly Coffee がある Hitodori Community House。ヴィンテージ感のあるレンガ造りの、どこか懐かしくて居心地のいい空間です。

※今回のミートアップではコーヒーの提供はありませんが、お店の空間でゆっくりとお過ごしいただけます。

この場所をつくりたいと思った理由。
私自身、誰かのいる場所にふらっと顔を出すことが、なんだか難しく感じることがありました。

変化のスピードが速く、いつも何かに追いつこうとする毎日。仕事での自分、友人の前での自分、社会の中で求められる自分。私たちは知らず知らずのうちに、いろんな役割や期待を背負っているのかもしれません。

いつの間にか、その役割を脱ぐことさえ忘れてしまったり。

そんな日々の中で、誰かに会いに行くこと、人の輪に入ることさえ、少し疲れてしまうことがあります。

だからこそ、ここは少し違う場所にしたいと思いました。

頑張って自分を表現しなくてもいい。
面白い話をしなくてもいい。
誰かと仲良くならなきゃ、と思わなくてもいい。

「顔を出さなきゃ」と思う場所ではなく、「自分に戻れる」場所。

話してもいいし、聞いているだけでもいい。笑っても、静かに過ごしてもいい。
思いがけない出会いや会話が生まれるかもしれないし、ただ同じ空間で時間を過ごすだけかもしれない。

どちらも大歓迎です。

言語の制限もありません。日本語でも英語でも、もちろんそれ以外の言語でも。

ただ人として、同じ時間と空間を共有する。

そんな小さなつながりを、一緒につくっていけたら嬉しいです。
