About us

We all know that learning is more fun when you’re drinking with friends and colleagues. Thus, Nerd Nite is a monthly event held in dozens of cities across the globe during which several folks give 18-21-minute fun-yet-informative presentations across all disciplines – while the audience drinks along. And there are often bands, acrobats, trivia, and other shenanigans as well. Imagine learning about everything from math feuds or the science of the Simpsons, to the genealogy of Godzilla or zombie insects, while having a few or a few too many. Fun, right?

    November Presenters:
    Calvin D. Armerding

He wrote “The Cooperative Family” and “Tenets: How to Get Along With Yourself (and Others),” co-created the Adlerian-based Telos Project self-help program, and co-founded the Alfred Adler Fellows Program for post-graduate Adlerian counseling training. He also presents at national and international conferences, and outside of work he is a songwriter, performer, and amateur student of architecture.
“Unreliable Narrator: What Early Memories Tell Us About a Person”
Out of all the innumerable experiences we have in early childhood, we only are able to recall a few. Early 20th-century psychiatrist and theorist Alfred Adler believed that recollection isn’t random, and posited that the recollection says less about what actually occurred, and much more about who people are in the present. Earliest recollections of life can function as a compressed version of what you believe about the world, other people, and yourself! We’ll explore the unreliability of memory, the structure and function of personality, and how to understand your own earliest memories.

    Travis Gordon TMG Investigative Group
“Private Investigator? That sounds cool… but what do you do?”
Travis has over 25 years of investigative experience, specializing in comprehensive background investigations, investigative interviewing, and certified electronic countermeasure detection. In this talk he’ll be providing a look behind the scenes in modern private investigations. (Hint, it’s not Magnumn PI)
