David is a researcher, scholar, and systems practitioner who recently led work at Meta Reality Labs Research, developing virtual acoustics platforms for VR and AR. He holds a Ph.D. in Music Technology from Northwestern University and has spent his career at the intersection of engineering, perception, and creative technology.
This session goes beyond the hype to explore what is really happening inside modern AI systems. Expect a practical, grounded conversation about architecture, training, and the feedback loops that shape how these systems learn.

David Etlinger is a researcher, scholar, and free thinker. He recently led work at Meta Reality Labs Research, developing virtual acoustics platforms for VR and AR. A systems practitioner across many domains, his work spans feedback systems, technology diffusion, and the intersection of engineering and perception. He holds a Ph.D. in Music Technology from Northwestern University and has designed sonic landscapes for hundreds of productions.
