The Future of APEX Development: From Standards to Specifications
·OnlineOnlineHosted by OraPub / Open Access
Oracle APEX makes it easy to build applications quickly. As projects grow, consistent standards become increasingly important for building applications that are easier to maintain, scale, and support.
With the introduction of APEX 26, APEXLang, and AI-assisted development, those same practices are taking on a new role. The standards we’ve used for years are becoming the specifications that guide how applications are designed, generated, and evolved.
In this session, we’ll look at practical standards that have worked well across real APEX projects, including naming conventions, application architecture, reusable PL/SQL APIs, version control, and integration patterns. We’ll then explore how these same practices naturally evolve into specification-driven development, providing the foundation for effective AI-assisted workflows while preserving the architecture and engineering practices that make APEX applications successful.
Whether you’re building applications on your own or as part of a larger team, you’ll leave with practical ideas that you can apply today, along with a fresh perspective on how APEX developers can take advantage of the next generation of development tools.
Presented by Rodolfo Rodriguez, Software Architect at Viscosity.

AI - The Good, the Bad and the Ugly
·OnlineOnlineJoin us as we look at many aspects of AI that are the Good (like solving health problems & Agents in Fusion Apps), the Bad (hallucinating/giving the wrong answer), or the Ugly (usually the effort to make AI work effectively - not as easy as advertised). Oracle algorithms, Agents & other AI are needed to leverage AI effectively using the Oracle Vector database (using OCI to access your data).
We will explore how to quickly leverage an LLM and use the Oracle Vector Database for Retrieval Augmented Generation using Oracle Cloud tools and Fusion Apps. I'll also show how to build an agent to access your private documents using RAG (Retrieval Augmented Generation) and the Llama LLM (on OCI - Oracle Cloud Infrastructure). We'll also see issues with AI that continue to pop up.
Presented by Rich Niemiec, Chief Innovation Officer and Oracle ACE Director, Viscosity North America
This event is co-hosted by the New York Oracle Users Group (www.nyoug.org) and Oracle Professional Services firm, Viscosity North America (www.viscosityna.com)
