Oracle DB Centrally Managed Users (CMU), Bringing AD into the DBA’s Life
·OnlineOnlineHOSTED by Viscosity/OraPub
Oracle 18c introduced a new feature called Centrally Managed Users that allows you to directly integrate your database to an on-premises Active Directory server for database user management.
In this presentation, we will discuss some of the design considerations and options for how to rollout CMU as well as the technical requirements and process to transition from local managed to centrally managed users.
Presented by Gary Gordhamer. Gary is a Managing Principal Consultant at Viscosity North America. He has spent much of his career focusing on the enterprise application landscape and business process digitization.
This event is part of a new series of free deeply technical webinars by OraPub. Find training and resources of this nature at www.OraPub.com.

How Do I Leverage AI to Grow My Career as an Oracle Professional
·OnlineOnlineWe have become an AI-driven world. Every vendor has an AI story, and every executive is asking what AI means for their business. For Oracle DBAs, developers, and architects, the real question is simple: how do I use AI to grow my career, not fall behind?
In this session, we will discuss practical ways Oracle professionals can use AI to become more valuable, more visible, and more impactful in their organizations. Our goal with AI should be to become three to four times more productive. Let's discuss how we can achieve more with AI.
We will focus on six key areas:- Learning effective prompt engineering
- Using AI to write better scripts and documentation
- Creating a simple roadmap to make AI part of your daily workflow
- Building co-pilot projects with vector search and RAG
- Improving presentations and communication with AI
insights from fellow executives on the AI roadmap in IT
We will also include live demos that will shake your foundation on how far AI has progressed, including:- Using messaging platforms to communicate with AI
- Seeing full applications developed entirely by AI
- Select AI with a local LLM
- Showcasing MCP capabilities with AI
Come see how you can use AI to future-proof your Oracle career and move from being the person who keeps the lights on to the person who leads the conversation.

Catching Slick Eddie: How Oracle AI Tech and Curiosity Cracked the Nut
·OnlineOnlineMost fraud detection talks are code dumps with a toy scenario. Not nice.
Meet Slick Eddie. A fraudster. Five people. Gift cards. And three completely uncoupled transactional systems with zero foreign keys between them. That's the gnarly part nobody talks about.
I wanted to catch him using only ChatGPT-style prompts. No code. Sounded awesome. Then I hit a wall. Hard.
The fraud pattern was just too complex. That's when I partnered Free-Tier Oracle 26ai with an AI Coding Assistant and built a real multi-phase detection pipeline in PL/SQL and PGQL. Fraud "fingerprint" embedding. Similarity search to isolate suspicious transaction bursts. Property Graphs that collapsed 3.7 million paths down to 132. Balance validation to nail the exact fraud sequence.
Is that awesome or what?!
But check this out. This session isn't a victory lap. It's the real story. What I tried. What blew up. And how curiosity plus an AI assistant solved in days what would've taken months solo.
Oracle AI handles every bit of it. Vectors, graphs, SQL. All in one engine. Mind blowing.
Ready to catch Slick Eddie?

Data Guard and Disaster Recovery Best Practices
·OnlineOnlineMany (if not most) Data Guard environments are quietly "broken" in one way or another, despite best efforts at following documentation and validating environments. Database administrators may outwardly express confidence, but the signs are there:
Treating DR/Data Guard as "fragile" systems
Anxiety about modifying Data Guard environments
Doubts that DR will 100% work when needed
Uncertainty about achieving RPO and RTOIf these sound familiar, this webinar is for you! This session moves beyond theory and documentation, building on lessons forged in the aftermath of real-world Data Guard and DR failures. I'll show you how to catch and repair common issues and errors in Data Guard environments and—more importantly—explain how and why these issues happen. The knowledge you'll gain from this class will grow your skills, allowing you to manage your Data Guard environments with greater confidence, increasing the reliability and stability of your disaster recovery strategy!
