Click here to reserve a spotLet's spend a week together doing something truly unforgettable, driving one of the most breathtaking stretches of coastline on the planet, from the vineyards of Napa Valley all the way north through ancient forests, dramatic bluffs, amazing beaches and hidden coastal towns that feel like the rest of the world hasn't found yet.
We begin in Napa Valley, where we will spend a full day visiting world-class wineries and having long dinners in one of America's greatest food destinations.
From there we pick up Highway 1 and head north along the California coast, and from this point the road itself becomes the experience. Our first coastal stop takes us through Muir Woods, where a cathedral of thousand-year-old redwoods lines the path and the city feels like another lifetime ago. We continue to the wild, windswept shores of Point Reyes, dramatic cliffs, a historic lighthouse, and the kind of raw ocean scenery that stops you mid-sentence.
Moving up the Sonoma Coast, we wind through Bodega Bay and Jenner, where rugged sea stacks rise from the surf and the Russian River quietly meets the Pacific. Then comes Mendocino, the crown jewel of the entire route. A Victorian village perched on clifftops above the crashing ocean, filled with art galleries, incredible restaurants, and scenery that feels almost too beautiful to be real. We'll spend a night here, and it will be one of the highlights of the trip. The further north we go, the wilder and more ancient the landscape becomes. The Avenue of the Giants takes us on a 32-mile drive through old-growth redwood forest so dense and towering it blocks out the sky entirely, walking the forest floor here is one of those rare experiences that genuinely shifts your perspective.
From there, Redwood National Park delivers the final act: the tallest trees on Earth, herds of elk grazing in open meadows, and Fern Canyon, a hidden gorge with vertical walls of ferns rising fifty feet on either side that feels like walking onto another planet.
That are just some of the highlights. There will be a few more absolutely stunning stops along the way.
We close the trip in Portland, Oregon a vibrant, endlessly interesting city with great food, legendary bookstores, and a wonderful energy for a farewell dinner before you fly home.
You will book your flight into San Francisco and fly home from Portland, everything else will be taking care of. We will travel together in a comfortable passenger van and stay each night in a new location, never too far from the coast and our next destination. This is leisurely adventure trip full of beauty, nature and stunning views.
Because many of our stops are in smaller but popular coastal towns with limited lodging, it would be convenient for us all to share a room with one other person we are comfortable with. This is both to ensure we can accommodate the whole group and to keep costs reasonable. The cost covers lodging, transportation, state park fees and everything except food and flights. All you need to do is get yourself to San Francisco. The cost of the trip is $1785 per person (shared room). If you'd prefer your own room, just reach out and we'll do our best to make it work.
