General mahjong session

Casual session in Bally's Casino in Newcastle, in September.

Mostly using old-style Hong Kong rules - which is a very good place to start - and we'll explain the basics if you've not played much before. Score sheets and western-numbered tiles will be available, so you don't need to learn Chinese numbers beforehand. Riichi fans also welcome to grab a table and play some Japanese style mahjong.

Should start around 7pm, traffic permitting (I'm usually there before). We should be off to the side of Freya's Bar, and we won't be the groups of Chinese playing at a brisk rate(!)

Venue has plenty of space so don't worry about the cap on attendees - but please add yourself to the waitlist or drop a comment in the event discussion so I have an idea how many tile sets we need! Thanks

Also, don't wait just for these routine Newcastle Thursday sessions to play! We sometimes play at weekends or other days, and in other places too, depending on who else is around. Feel free to post a message to see who else wants to play, which area, and what style of play you prefer.
