March Workshop
Details
Keith Newman, Data scientist @ Jumping Rivers
A whirlwind tour of {ggplot2}.
Frequently listed among the top-3 most-downloaded CRAN packages, {ggplot2} has established itself as a gold-standard for data visualisation over it's 15+ years since release. To start the hour, we'll get you started with understanding how to construct some basic plots. Then hold on to your hats, as we begin a whirlwind tour of just some of strategies and features that can be applied to your plots—from handling densely packed data, creating facets to compare groups, transforming axes, and restyling a theme—using nothing more than a few additional lines of code. We end with a showcase of what can be achieved with some top-tier {ggplot2} mastery.
This workshop is aimed at those with at least a basic knowledge of R, but no prior experience with {ggplot2} is necessary. We'll get you started with making your first plots, and as the complexity ramps up, feel free to transition from coding-along to sitting back and observing. Just bring along a laptop that can connect to the WiFi, and a hat that won't blow away easily.
To get the most out of this workshop, please bring a laptop to the session. You do not require any prior knowledge in R or Python to attend this workshop.
NB Our meetup talks and workshops are now separate meetup.com events, and as such should be RSVP'd to separately. This event is for our March workshop. If you would also like to attend our March talks, please remember to RSVP to the talks event! Thanks!
