What we’re about
## We are a group of local, talented and enthusiastic poets based in Newham
Newham Poetry Group (NPG) is a volunteer-led not-for-profit community group, made up of proactive residents who believe that creative activities should be accessible to all, especially in the context of our borough's cultural diversity. Newham Poetry Group promotes social inclusion, community engagement, and residents’ well-being, through creative activities that include poetry, creative writing, storytelling, and music. We use creativity as a tool for self-development, social cohesion, and academic support. Newham Poetry Group organises and supports a huge range of initiatives that benefit our local community: projects to increase knowledge of local poets and writers, Newham Heritage Month, local poets’ festivals, storytelling festivals, and much more. All our activities provide benefits to all the community around East London, as all backgrounds, ages, skills, and languages are proactively welcomed.
