Ever wanted to finally get through Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance? Our group meets to explore and discuss big ideas together.

This time, we’ll be examining chapters 11–15. In these chapters, Pirsig draws on David Hume’s skepticism about objective certainty, Immanuel Kant’s idea that the mind structures experience, and Eastern traditions that emphasize direct, unmediated awareness.

Pirsig suggests that “Quality” exists prior to the split between subject and object, bringing together rational analysis, aesthetic intuition, and mindful engagement with reality.
