Debate Night - inc. Should we pause AI development?

Speak in public, analyse and think on your feet in a modest and friendly setting.

You are presented with a motion and assigned to either the proposition or opposition team independent of your actual position on the motion.
After several minutes of thinking and conferring time with phones allowed, one person per team will speak uninterrupted for up to 2½ mins to argue their case.
For each motion there are two rounds like this, then one question and answer for each side.
Three motions are debated where usually at least one is lighthearted.
