PHILOSOPHY DISCUSSION GROUP FOR 50+ FOLKS

Even though few MeetUp people sign up, we typcally get 20-30 people in the discussion group. Here's the scoop. When you are over 50 years old, lots of weird and strange things happen and it's a great time to think about WHAT IT ALL MEANS.

In this discussion group, we will discuss a variety of philosophy topics, and try to understand how they affect our lives.

WHAT: PHILOSOPHY CLASS MEETS

Our last session was so much fun, we are going to build on it.
I saw a short video on why Fiction is Easier to write than TRUTH. So we be gonna talk about that. If you can handle it. "You can't handle..." etc etc

2. We talked about the Golden Rule. How everybody BELIEVES in it, but not many people USE it. We then asked which politicians use it, and AI decided ONLY the democrats do! Then we stopped. But we need to ask the NEXT QUESTION... and that's what we'll do. What's the next question?
3. We briefly discussed Kant's Categorical Imperative as a different TAKE on the Golden Rule. But I didn't have much time, and folks in our discussion group HASSLED ME because of omissions I made. So we will continue on Kant's Categorical Imperative.

5. THEN someone brought us: "hey forget the Golden Rule. I follow Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged." So I asked AI to compare the Golden Rule with Atlas Shrugged, and what would society be like if we did that. Let's see what it said.

13. FINALLY, the BEST PART of the discussion group: we go to El Cholo for Happy Hour! And we bond! And discuss things! And drink tacos! Or something.

Anyway, that's what we'll cover. Should be fun!

We'll talk about cool things like Plato's allegory of the cave, the Myth of Sisyphus, and ALL SORTS of topics. Ovens will be available so we can BAKE OUR OWN PHILOSOPHY! I mean, conceptually.
