What we're about

This group is for all the travel-lovers out there, and especially those who are interested in meeting other people to travel together with. In addition to the small-group international trips that we host, there will also be local meetup events which are a great way for all kinds of travelers to connect, swap stories, seek travel advice, and get inspired. There is no pressure to join an upcoming trip at the general local events -- just come on out to meet and mingle with like-minded globetrotters!

For those you are interested, you can check out all the upcoming trips: www.traversejourneys.com

If an international trip we're hosting is of interest to you, please rsvp "yes" on the Meetup page. It just means that you'd like more information -- it is not an obligation to go!

Traveling the world is an intoxicating experience that often leaves globetrotters feeling forever changed. Can it change others lives as well? Can its powerful influence be focused solely on positive impact? Many buzz words have been thrown around to encapsulate a more purposeful intent for travel: sustainable, responsible, impactful, transformative, regenerative, eco-friendly... just to name a few! But what does it all mean in practice? What are really the best questions and considerations to be pondering if you're interested in prioritizing more ethical travel experiences? And how does it all apply to travel in the COVID or post-COVID world? From the small choices like 'what to pack' to the big questions like 'how to avoid greenwashing' or 'what's the best way to support local communities', we aim to provide you a wealth of information and inspiration to take your travels from life-changing to world-changing! We'll unpack all your questions with an impressive coalition of leaders, passionate about intentional travel choices. At this event, you'll meet with: Wes Espinosa: Wes Espinosa is the Director of the Torres del Paine Legacy Fund in Puerto Natales, Chile - recently sponsored by CREST. Beyond helping Torres del Paine National Park build sustainable trails and improve ecological restoration efforts, he is passionate about creating opportunities for local residents and tourists to give back and conserve Chile's incredible protected areas. Susanna Kelly: Born and raised in Alaska, Susanna has witnessed firsthand the positive and negative impacts of tourism, especially in rural small towns and delicate ecosystems. She currently lives in Munich while attending a Master's program for Biodiversity Wildlife and Ecosystems Health. She is also in the process of launching a company focusing on environmental education and manages a sustainable travel blog. Malcolm O'Neill: From a young age, Malcolm began adventuring and has hiked, climbed, sea kayaked, and mountain biked throughout New Zealand and the globe. His passion for conservation and ethical travel (and wariness of greenwashing!) is infused into his work as the co-founder of a tour company in New Zealand, focused on active and outdoor pursuits. Moderated by Laura Hamm: Co-owner of Traverse Journeys, a travel company with a values-based approach, intent on cultivating transformative experiences around the globe that foster cross-cultural appreciation, environmental awareness and responsible tourism. Travel with Meaning - People, Planet, Purpose! **Can't make it to the live event?
