Not Following the Crowd

Join a lively, welcoming group that mixes relaxed local meetups with bigger adventures. We run a wide range of events every month so there’s always something new to try — from gentle bimbles to theatre nights, day trips and longer holidays.

What we do

• Varied events: days out, gardens, museums, local theatre, visiting speakers, live big‑screen opera, ballet and theatre, Shakespeare performances, church and graveyard tours, and quirky “items the crowd miss.”
• Walks and bimbles: country and coast walks of 3–5 miles and easy flat bimbles of ½–2 miles.
• Social nights: music gigs, cinema, quizzes, 10‑pin bowling, pub crawls, casino ladies’ evenings and more — many run by our active hosts.
• Sport and games: petanque, occasional kayaking, pickleball, Bat & Trap (we own our traps), and other casual sporting meetups.
• Live music and events: we follow bands on UK tours and attend local festivals and shows.

Fusion travel and special events
Fusion organises longer, planned trips and big social events like holidays and Christmas dinners. Recent and past destinations include Istanbul; Ironbridge; Portsmouth; Potters Great Yarmouth; Tall Ships at Hartlepool; National Trust West Kent; Eastbourne Air Show; Antwerp and Zundert Flower Festival. Previous years have taken us to Bath, Liverpool, Loch Long, Northumbria, Lisbon, Budapest, Malaga, Paris and Versailles among others.

### Where our members come from

Coastal focus: most members live between Birchington, Margate, Broadstairs, Ramsgate and Deal. Good rail links from Faversham, Whitstable, Herne Bay and Deal make many events accessible for those a little further afield.

Quick practical notes

• Membership fee: £3 per year for membership covering both NFC and Fusion (that’s the total, not per group).
• Photos: all members must have a recent, recognizable photo on their profile so we can spot each other at events and on Zoom.
• Active membership: we welcome people who plan to attend regularly. If you rarely visit Meetup or belong to many groups and don’t attend, you may not be approved or your membership may be closed after inactivity.
• Inactive members: if the Meetup site shows no visits for three months we’ll check whether you wish to remain; if you don’t attend an event for four months your membership may be closed. New unpaid members will be closed after one reminder.
• No plus ones: everyone attending must be a paid member with a recent photo.
