About us
Welcome ALL!
As the NH Sierra Club outings leader, I want to make people aware of hikes I offer & lead. I will also announce other activities such as fairs & social events. You don't have to be a Sierra club member to be a member of this Meetup group, but it would be nice if you joined the Sierra Club to support all the great things we do for the environment, our social & physical benefit & the community.
My goal is to provide a safe, enjoyable, maybe challenging outing, usually a hike, for anyone who wants to attend. Those who attend an outing must be 18 or older to take part in our outings. Those under 18 will need a parent or guardian to sign a waiver. If you have limited mobility, I will try to find other groups that are better geared to assist you.
Most of my hikes are on the easy side, in Rockingham County. Easy for some may not be easy for others so don't assume "easy" means anyone can finish it. I do a few hikes in Hillsborough County & Southeast Maine. I will hike further from home if someone else is a co-leader & helps organize it. If you want me to lead a more difficult hike, I ask you be the co-leader & be very familiar with the specific hike you want to do. We hike year round.
I encourage members to make comments, ask questions or suggest things they want me to help make happen. Last year, besides many hikes, we X-country skied at Pawtuckaway State Park, a moonlight night walk to Chiver's Pond in Candia, a forest therapy walk in Deerfield, the NH Farm & Forest festival in Deerfield, the Coppal House Farm Sunflower Festival in Lee, Deerfield fair, Southeast land Trust Trailfest in Epping, Southeast Land Trust Scenic Film Festival in Portsmouth, Milford Pumpkin Festival, a winter solstice gathering in Raymond, a winter overnight camp, a trivia night in Newmarket & many other events.

Bedrock Gardens walk
Location not specified yetHello walkers, hikers, gardeners and art lovers.
This is 3 hours, more or less based on how much time you want to spend there. There's usually a tour at 10:30, but if you want to wander and explore instead of the tour, that's fine. People like the tours because interesting details are explained about the art and plant species. The tours are done by docents, some know a lot and some are in training. Sometimes I can sway the executive director John Forti to give my group a tour. He knows a ton and has good stories. There is no need to stay together as a group, but it's fine if we do. I can bring 6 people for free with my season pass. If more want to come, get on the wait list and when that day comes, just come and you can pay to get in. Feel free to suggest future dates that work for you.
This is an exceptional place to visit. If you don't want the tour, they have audio devices you can use and when you get to each of the sites that the device responds to, it explains what inspired Jill to make the art at that location. The grounds are easy walking, there's art everywhere, some is overhead so slow walking and looking around is helpful. They have a gift shop, native plants for sale, bathrooms and sell cold beverages. They often have master gardeners working so if you're into gardening, you may learn a few things.
NH Chronicle has a segment on the garden and there's a PBS segment.
