Canyon Lake SUPyaking #1

Come on out for an intro / easy SUP yak outing. We’ll head out to a quiet cove on Canyon lake. It’s a little over 1/2 mile from the start point to the cove, but - few boats/no wake area in the cove so it’s a great place to practice standing up, and developing techniques. I’m certainly not an instructor but can offer some tips - and I’ll be working on balance stuff myself /trying to get back into it.

Meet at WalMart on Signal Butte 1606 S Signal Butte Rd, Mesa, AZ 85209 (see meeting spot photo) at 2pm- from there we’ll carpool to Canyon Lake (apt 1/2 hour drive). Road is paved all the way to the lake, bur it is twisting and hilly, please drive cautiously (plus there’s usually trucks pulling boats leaving the lake around that time). We’ll regroup and get set up at the Acacia Recreation Area on Canyon Lake (See photos for meeting spot).

You’ll need a Tonto Pass for Canyon Lake parking (usually around $8 - need to get them before going out there), PFDs required when on the water. I’ll post my # in comment section before the event. Hope to see ya out there, this will likely be the first of a few lake events.
