D&R Canal Towpath Bike Ride Somerset to Somewhere and Back

We’ll meet in a parking lot near the Rose Garden. From there, we’ll cross the river with our bikes and head out at a relaxed, social pace toward Kingston. There’s no set distance or time—we’ll ride until the group agrees it’s time to turn back. We will probably turn around after 8-10 miles

I’ll go down Thursday or Friday to scout the exact parking location. I’ll post GPS coordinates, the address, and photos once I have them.

Ride Details
• The path is smooth, packed dust—perfect for most bikes except road bikes. Hybrids, mountain bikes, gravel bikes, even unicycles are all good.
• Water will be on both sides of us: either the Raritan River or the canal.
• We may stop to read historical plaques, or just ride past them—up to the group.

• I’ll bring a tire pump and encourage everyone wear helmets. Choice is yours.

Lunch (Optional)

We can grab lunch in Kingston or Manville/Somerset. If you’re concerned about leaving your bike outside, bring a lock—but we should be fine.
