"Paul Sheldon used to write for a living. Now, he's writing to stay alive."

A romance novelist is kidnapped by his obsessed fan, Annie Wilkes, who demands he write a new Misery novel. As Paul struggles to escape, he realizes Annie has no intention of letting him go. With his life on the line, he must write — or face deadly consequences.

The movie featured Kathy Bates and James Caan, and was directed by Rob Reiner (who also directed "The Princess Bride", "When Harry Met Sally", and "A Few Good Men" among others.)
