Our monthly vegan book club is held at my house in Sicklerville, NJ. I'll have coffee and tea available, bring a vegan baked good or snack if you like (optional) for us to enjoy as we discuss this month's book.

In We Are All Completely Beside Ourselves, Karen Joy Fowler weaves her most accomplished work to date—a tale of loving but fallible people whose well-intentioned actions lead to heartbreaking consequences.

The novel's narrator, Rosemary Cooke, is a girl raised to believe that a chimpanzee is her literal family member. It causes the reader to reexamine their own separation of "human" and "animal," and analyzes what the lack of that separation might do to a person, or to a family. The book is gripping, well-written, and sometimes funny, but is NOT a feel-good book and raises some difficult questions. Looking forward to a good discussion on this one!
