Our monthly vegan book club is held at my house in Sicklerville, NJ. I'll have coffee and tea available, bring a vegan baked good or snack if you like (optional) for us to enjoy as we discuss this month's book.

In "The Forgotten Door" by Alexander Key, Little Jon finds himself on an unfamiliar planet, Earth, after tumbling through a mysterious doorway, stripped of his memory and identity. Injured and desperate for help, he utilizes his extraordinary ability to read the minds of animals and humans, which leads him to a kind and welcoming family. However, as whispers of his presence reach the army, the safety of his newfound friends becomes jeopardized. With danger closing in and time slipping away, Jon must race against the clock to uncover the secret passage that could lead him home.
An easy-to-read book for children, The Forgotten Door has a lot to say to adults too, such as the value of ethical treatment of animals and an appreciation for Nature and the beauty of natural space on Earth. This book teaches that universal concepts such as compassion, sharing, love, and commitment - when combined with action - have the ability to triumph over evil in our world.
